I’ve often been a naysayer. I choose to excise passive in almost every case. However, it could be because I’ve been led down the wrong path. Alas!

I’ve known for years that I need to spruce up my grammar.
I’ve held stubbornly to the concept that passive is harder to read. There is much support for this (see earlier posts.) However, passive does have a place. It is soft. Sometimes you want a little two-step shuffle. Sometimes you want to slide something by.
The other, more often used, argument I make is that active is shorter, easier to understand {okay that’s the same argument}, and stronger. Active voice carries punch.
