What could I do with a Raspberry Pi

I don’t own a motorbike: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1216528 – so getting data via a OBD2 Data Recorder isn’t interesting to me.

Since I need to improve/refresh my programming skills, I could use it for PHP or Python. Ruby is on the way down the list {TIOBE programming list https://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html } The TIOBE list tracks Turing complete programming languages which have a Wikipedia entry.

Shopping list:

  • Raspberry Pi
  • TV – better already have one of these
  • HDMI cable
  • 4GB Class SD card or 8GB – see https://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards You can get a preloaded SD card
  • USB Keyboard & Mouse – got this
  • Internet cable – should already have that too
  • Micro USB Power Supply (700mA at 5V or higher)
  • Custom case from The Daily Brick (https://www.thedailybrick.co.uk/lego-sets/custom/lego-custom-raspberry-pi-case.html) $21.20 … I don’t recommend it

Got to say: https://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards – loved it! This has a huge list of which SD cards worked on what platform, etc.

1. Install Raspbian (download zip file, unzip into an image file)

2. Prep your SD card
